CHC42408 CERTIFICATE IV IN RELATIONSHIP EDUCATION
Commencing in March 2012, the William Street Family Therapy
Centre (WSFTC) will conduct a Certificate IV Course in Relationship
Education. The course will consist of 3 days "face-to-face"
training and then 12 weeks of online and Skype lessons. Those
attending this course will receive excellent training in the field
of Relationship Education. The WSFTC training:
- Focuses on providing practical hands-on skills delivered by
experienced professionals working in relationship counselling,
education, therapy and social work
- Has 24 years proven success in training social workers,
psychologists, relationship educators, counsellors and
psychotherapists valued by professional organisations,
Universities, employers in Government, non-government organisations
and the private sector
- Provides on-line, up-to-date technology and practical support
for trainees that is accessed by remote and regional areas as well
as internationally
- Provides employment support and outcomes.
Aims of the Certificate IV in Relationship Education Training
Course
The Certificate IV in Relationship Education includes both
theoretical and practical training, in order to work as
Relationship Educators, Group Workers, Family Support Workers,
Youth Workers, and in other areas of Health & Welfare.
The Course is aimed at anyone who is currently working with, or
wanting to work with men, women, couples, parents, young people,
children, families and groups. In addition, successful completion
of this course will allow access to University undergraduate degree
courses in the Health and Welfare fields.
This course trains participants for roles in non-therapeutic
supports, such as providing education and skills training to
individuals, groups, couples, and families. The training will
develop the necessary skills in trainees so they can help people
learn how to enhance their relationships with intimate partners,
spouses, parents, children, siblings, colleagues or friend.
Trainees are up-skilled to support clients facing issues such as
separation and mental health, alcohol and other drugs issues. The
training program deals with issues across the life cycle to support
highly diverse clients, especially in relation to cultural
backgrounds and diverse family structures.
Trainees are trained to deliver existing programs and to develop
new community education and community development programs. Whilst
this is not a counselling role, the training is aimed at providing
participants with effective communication skills, conflict
management, program development, program delivery and review
skills. Course participants are trained in group facilitation and
psycho-education.
Additionally, the William Street Family Therapy Centre can
provide support to participants who seek a greater depth of skills
and knowledge to work with specific client groups. Training is
provided for a wide range of service providers within the health,
human services and education sectors. Workers in these roles may
work with limited supervision and utilise elements of
counselling/dispute resolution skills and knowledge, incidentally,
when working with families. However, the primary function of the
course does not involve clinical or therapeutic higher level
knowledge or skills application.
