Workshop: Men, Shame & Therapy

20.04.12

Workshop: Men, Shame & Therapy

Friday 20 April 2012 (9.30am - 4.30pm)

____

Shame may be one of the least understood aspects of masculine psychology by both men and practitioners and explain why less than one third of all psychotherapy clients are male. Boys who are shamed become men who become hypersensitive to the possibility of humiliation and the feelings that accompany it. In doing so, they project blame and rejection and see the worst in others, lashing out at the smallest sign of rejection.

It is a privilege for the William Street Family Therapy Centre to host Malcolm Robinson & Catherine Sanders in this training opportunity. Malcolm Robinson & Catherine Sanders are leading teachers and practitioners in Australian Family Therapy and consult to the Bower Place Complex Needs Clinic (Adelaide), a public clinic working therapeutically with complex, co-morbid matters. Bower Place conducts numerous teaching programs in therapeutic and community practice from VET Sector to Higher Education Graduate Diploma and has an innovative 'live' approach to teaching systemic practice (see 'Presenters' Profiles' below for more details).
